Snorkeling on the Reef

The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System (MBRS, also simply known as the Mesoamerican reef and often abbreviated MAR) stretches from the tip of the Yucatán Peninsula down to the Bay Islands of Honduras. It includes the Belize Barrier Reef. This reef structure is the largest coral reef in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest coral reef in the world.

We took a small boat through the lagoon and went snorkeling at Punta Nizuc. Because it looked like rain everyone else canceled. The snorkeling wasn't that great but it rained the next two days so we made the right decision.

A new slide should appear every 3 seconds or you can scroll to the bottom row of thumbnails and click on anyone to bring up a larger photograph. To stop the slide show, click on the round icon between the two arrows. Use the arrows to move sequentially backwards and forwards though the photos.
